In this introduction to Tag Management Systems we begin by looking at Tags, and show you what they are and where to find them on a page. We take you through how tags collect and send data and some of the pain points with tags. Once we’ve demystified tags for you, we’ll look at tag management systems and how the tag containers work to help you easily add and change different types of tags on a page. We’ll take you through the benefits and limitations of Tag Management Systems and share our thoughts on the different Tag Management Vendors. The training is aimed at people with minimal practical experience of tags, who want to understand what goes on under the covers of a website so to speak. We assume no prior knowledge of the technical side of analytics.
