Our New Home
A little blog post about the new home of Measurecamp and general Measurecampness from our Assistant Keely.
Wednesday we met up to scope out Measurecamp IV’s new home. We loved Mozilla but we’ve out grown it. Tired of turning those people away who really wanted to join in the Measurecamp fun, I’ll be welcoming 200 of you Etc Venues 1 Drummond gate. However be assured that Measurecamp will never grow so big that we lose our identity and the friendly laidback vibe you’ve all come to love.
1 Drummond gate is Just a five minute walk from Pimlico station, it’s dead easy to find. The big building on the left. It looks like this (for the directionally challenged like me)
Inside we will be using a space from etc venues (lower ground floor). It’s pretty cool! Lots of rooms of different sizes and we can pick you the right space for the sort of session you might decide to run. The break out lounge space is bigger with more seating and it even has a neat garden area…..with the possibility of Giant Jenga…but you geeky types won’t like that will you?! Lets hope it’s sunny! And for you naughty people you can smoke out there (but you shouldn’t ‘cause it’s bad for you #justsaying)
As always there will be food! Yes you lot get fed! Peter has assured me no wimpy limpy sandwiches! We’ve got the finest minds in the analytics stratosphere attending….them brains need feeding with proper grub! How else will you come up with all of the excellent insights, hints, tips and terribly bad puns and metaphors. Speaking of which the measurecamp swear jar will be back…always a big “hit”…. damn it!…. A list of other things that you’re banned from saying…coming soon!
Some of you will be travelling from other countries and have luggage we’ve allocated a room to leave luggage, little bikes, motorcycle helmets and cuddly toys.
Wifi….We will have wifi…Apparently enough Wifi for 200 geeks not to exhaust. And the code will be clearly displayed *gestures like cabin crew*….here….here….here…..errrm over here and over there.
Every Measurecamp morning I hand out Tshirts and we try to get the correct number of each size (we try really hard). So let me put this politically correctly, if your nickname is either Sumo or pixie be on time 😉 Oh and I’ll also be giving you a name badge which will be dual purpose. It will obviously show people who you are and your twitter handle (if you have one)….but more importantly will serve as your drinks ID for the bar later, better keep hold of that badge!
Final thought, in our new venue you’ll see various pieces of art, including this one. The way you interpret art is really up to you. However hopefully Measurecamp IV will be a little like this artwork. You’ll learn something new about a tool you use every day. Some people see tea stirrers other people see art…. One tea stirrer is just a tea stirrer….200 tea stirrers can create something magic and support the other tea stirrers in their common love of stirring tea. Perhaps it’s just a perception thing and analytics in agencies just needs to be understood better. Or it may be a case that a colleague’s opinion might make you see something in a new light. Maybe you’ve got a pile of metaphorical sticks and Measurecamp is the metaphorical glue that teaches you how to put them all together……Maybe it’s simply all in the presentation!
